Growth through Airships and Low Orbit Satellites.

In contrast to the widely familiar geostationary satellites at a height of 36,000 km which move at the same speed like earth, thus being in a “stationary” or fix position to earth, Low Orbit Satellites (“LEO”) fly in an orbit of just between 160 and 2,000 km. The signal strength of LEOs at surface is one hundred times higher than from geostationary satellites. In total investment and operating costs of LEOs are substantially lower compared to geostationary satellites. Similar or even better efficiencies can be achieved through recently developed modern airships, which fly at an altitude of approx.
The business and income model of the SBN online radio is based mainly on subscriber fees as well as income from merchandising, marketing and inventive activities. The access is reserved for subscribers and structured through prepaid cards, which can be bought individually for various periods. SBN broadcasts internet radio in CD-quality (128 Kbps) with themed music channels and additional services like sports, tourisms, news, entertainment and live events.   Over 100 music channels in CD quality (128 Kbps) exclusively for subscribers delivered via the Internet along with a wide variety of news on sports, travel, culture, and games for the younger kids.
  • The weekly Internet radio audience has increased 50% over the past years. 12% of the US population aged 12+ has listened to Internet radio in the past week. This is a 50% increase over the 2005 estimate. 19% of consumers ages 18-34 have listened to Internet radio in the past week. Internet radio also reaches 16% of adults ages 18-49 in an average week. Satellite Radio attracts a broader audience but one that skews affluent. The satellite radio audience more closely mirrors the age and gender profile of America than audiences of other digital forms. 53% of subscribers are male and 18% are over 55.
After tests and technical measurements, SBN calculates that a total of six new broadcast systems based on stratosphere airships or low orbit satellite systems are required to ensure Europe-wide reception coverage from Russia to the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic. The estimated investment costs per one new broadcast system with stratosphere airships are approx. at EUR 7.5 Million under current market prices. Hence the estimated total investment costs for the whole European market amount to approx. EUR 45 Million. Due to the modular structure of the airship based systems the broadcasting of SBN radio programs SBN intends to start with one single system.
Satellite Radio Currently SBN is broadcasting its programs through stationary, non-mobile internet cable systems. The area for business clients is not active yet but will be developed and launched later as an additional business concept. The projected broadcasting via stratosphere airships respectively low orbit satellites is expected to result in substantially larger growth potentials in the European market with its various cultures and languages.   In the years 2012 to 2014 the start of the terrestrial broadcast systems is projected to cover Europe including the largely populated areas of Moscow and St. Petersburg in Russia and the Mediterranean Sea.
